Gerelli is a town in northeast D Toratt. It takes its name from the nearby Mt. Gerellial (or maybe it's the other way around). The town is built on a rocky outcrop of sharp, angular mesas. Some structures are carved into the mesas, while others are built on top. Traversing Gerelli involves the climbing of ladders almost as much as walking. The rocks in the area are a peculiar red-brown color not found elsewhere in the region. Gerelli is divided into five areas: High Hill, the commercial district, the governing district, East Residential and West Residential.
High Hill is a plateau that rises far above the rest of town. It is about a third the size of the rest of the town. Most of the uppercrust live there. In the middle of the plateau is a mile high spire of rock. The top of the spire has been flattened, and some climb there for meditation or ceremonial purposes. A church encircles the base of the spire. It is devoted to Pelor, but has altars for other deities can be found inside, too. High Hill can be accessed by a lift system powered by underground currents.
The lower part of town is organized around a single, large street that runs north to south. At the north end of the street is the commercial district, filled with all the local businesses and markets. The East Residential and West Residential are on opposite sides of the street. Both are home to rival gangs. The gangs usually don't victimize anyone who doesn't choose a side, so the law turns a blind eye to them. At the south end of the street is the governing district. It is where one can find the offices of local leaders and the law enforcement. Someone coming through the town gate has to walk through the government district to get to the rest of the town.
